Farm School Illness Policy

Hello Farm School Parents –

As we are entering the cold and flu season and many children are coming to school with symptoms, we wanted to share our Sickness Guidelines Policy with you.  This policy below is based on the recent Fairfax County Health Department School Exclusion Guidance.

Please check your child for symptoms before bringing to school. Also – we may have a few COVID test kits at the school if you need one.  The tests take 30 minutes so please allow time before class if you test right before school.

Note: If you have questions about your child’s symptoms and the policy below, please contact judi@katydidkids.com or call us at (703) 689-3104.

Katydid Farm School Illness Policy for 2023

This policy is based on Fairfax County Health Department School Exclusion Guidance.

Where testing is required, please test at home and take a picture of the test result with the date and your child’s name written on a piece of paper and email to judi@katydidkids.com. Results plus name/date must be clearly visible in the photo. Contact Judi for other test options.

Respiratory Symptoms include, but are not limited to: Cough, runny nose, sneezing, nasal congestion, fever, sore throat, headache and/or fatigue.

COVID Positive

Our official policy based on guidance from the Fairfax Health Department for this year is that anyone who tests positive for COVID should:

  • Isolate from Day 0 (the day you have symptoms or if asymptomatic, the day you test positive)
  • Days 1-5: Stay Home and away from others
  • Day 6: If no fever for 24 hours, symptoms have improved and child can wear a properly fitted mask without it falling down below nose while at school, child may return to school with mask.  (If unable or unwilling to wear mask, the child must have 2 negative tests 48 hours apart with the first test administered on Day 6)

Our official policy based on guidance from the Fairfax Health Department for this year is that anyone exposed to someone who tests positive for COVID should:

  • Monitor for any symptoms
  • Test immediately if symptoms develop
  • FCHD suggest wearing a mask (we require a tight-fitting mask like a KN95 because they stay on the children’s faces)
  • FCHD suggest testing on day 6 (or if ongoing exposure like from a family member, test frequently)

Please contact Judi with any questions.  (703) 689-3104
